William “Bill” Ryerson is a dedicated leader with experience in a variety of progressive issues relating to population, global sustainability, and women’s equality. Bill Ryerson leverages this understanding to lead Population Media Center as president and the Population Institute (PI) as chair.
Since 1969, PI has promoted access to family planning services and information for everyone. To this end, the organization announced in July 2019 that it had joined over 150 reproductive health and environmental organizations in supporting Thriving Together.
A unique first-of-its-kind campaign, Thriving Together was created by the Margaret Pyke Trust in the United Kingdom. The campaign has drawn support from organizations around the world that believe removing barriers to family planning services will benefit the environment and biodiversity, and improve the health of women and families.
This recent pledge of support was informed by PI’s belief that population, environment, and health projects in environmentally sensitive areas threatened by resource depletion will restore bio-habitats and community health. Such holistic approaches will also, according to PI, create a more sustainable environment that will be prosperous in the future.
